INVISALIGN IN PRACTICE
BACKGROUND
– The Invisalign system for orthodontic treatment of adults was introduced in 1999 and since has been widely used internationally as well as in Denmark. However, the indications for the use of the system seem unclear. In the present article two patient cases with irregular anterior teeth were straightened.
CASE STUDIES
– Two young adults with spacing or crowding positions of the teeth in the front region, respectively, and with normal molar occlusions were treated with the Invisalign system. 10 set of aligners were used for the first patients, whereas 23 sets were used for the patient with crowding. For the following refinement, four set of aligners were used in both cases. The posttreatment consisted of using aligners for the night and bonded wired retentions. In both cases correct positions of the anterior teeth were achieved.
CONCLUSION
– Irregular teeth with limited spacing or crowding positions in the front and normal occlusion can be moved to correct positions by use of the Invisalign system.
